The Andrews Labor Government has announced 33 finalists in this year's Victorian Premier's Sustainability Awards, selected from the largest number of entries in the awards' 17-year history.
The high-profile awards program recognises and celebrates individuals, communities, organisations, governments and businesses across Victoria that are leading in sustainable innovation and practices.
This year's finalists across eleven categories include a social enterprise that breaks unemployment cycles through an IT recycling business, a primary school that leads marine science education and a company that has revolutionised fuel management for suppliers and petrol stations.
Winners will be announced at the Premier's Sustainability Awards gala dinner at The Forum in Melbourne on Thursday 10 October.
The Premier will personally select two overall winners of the Premier's Regional Recognition Award and the Premier's Recognition Award to be announced at the ceremony.
Previous winners include Yume Food, which built an online marketplace exclusively for surplus food to reduce waste and save hundreds of thousands of kilograms of product going to landfill.
In 2018 Gannawarra Shire Council was recognised for its efforts to promote sustainability and achieving Victoria's first large scale solar farm and battery storage facility.
