A major milestone has been reached in the delivery of the Cook Government's Regional Supportive Landlord Model (RSLM) in Geraldton, with the announcement of Salvation Army Housing as the Community Housing Provider.
Tenants will move into the RSLM homes in Geraldton from early 2026, allocated through a coordinated and centralised process.
The RSLM is a $53 million initiative to deliver 100 regional social homes with wraparound supports to foster sustainable and permanent tenancies for people transitioning out of chronic homelessness or rough sleeping.
The Community Housing Provider, Salvation Army Housing, will manage the tenancies and link tenants to support services.
Geraldton was the first location selected for the establishment of the RSLM.
The rollout is part of the Cook Government's efforts to ensure every Western Australian has a home and builds on the success of the supportive landlord model pilot, Djuripiny Mia, which has delivered 100 homes and is currently supporting over 200 individuals who were at risk of, or experiencing, homelessness across Perth, Peel and Bunbury.
The Cook Government has invested a record $6.3 billion in housing and homelessness measures since 2021, including the delivery of more than 3,800 social homes.
As stated by Housing and Works Minister John Carey:
"The Regional Supportive Landlord Model boosts the stock of public housing in our regions and supports people to transition out of rough sleeping and homelessness.
"The delivery of this model is part of our government's record $6.3 billion housing and homelessness investment since 2021.
"It's great to see Salvation Army Housing appointed as the Community Housing Provider to manage tenancies and link vulnerable members to the supports they need."
As stated by Homelessness Minister Matthew Swinbourn:
"The Regional Supportive Landlord Model (RSLM) is a transformative program that puts tenants first, supporting people where they are, and helping to build stable, long-termoccupancy.
"The Geraldton RSLM dwellings demonstrate the State Government's Housing First approach in action, providing safe housing with the supports needed for success.
"The RSLM empowers people to gain confidence in maintaining a tenancy and places the needs of the tenants firstbefore commercial gain.
"The supportive landlord model has changed countless lives for the betterin the Perth metropolitan area and in the South West, and will now have a transformative effect for people in the Mid West.
"I wish those moving into their new homes the best of luck for a future that includes stable and long-term housing."
