Police have charged a man with property and drug offences following a traffic crash involved an alleged stolen vehicle at Burpengary yesterday, 30 July,
It will be alleged that a Mazda 3 sedan was stolen from a Matthew Terrace, Caboolture car park between July 29 and 30, and was later involved in a petrol drive off at Morayfield at 4am on July 30.
The vehicle was initially sighted by patrolling officers on Rosewood Crescent, Margate at 10am, before it evaded officers and fled the area.
A short time later, officers were called to reports the Mazda had collided with a pole on Hunt Road, Burpengary.
Officers attended and located the alleged driver, a 36-year-old Morayfield man, nearby on Hauton Road and took him into custody.
It will be further alleged that a subsequent search of the vehicle located a quantity of drugs.
The man has since been charged with two counts of stealing, and count each of evasion, dangerous operation of a vehicle, failing to comply with duties of a driver, receiving tainted property, possessing dangerous drugs, possessing thing intended for use in connection with offence, driving without a licence, driving an unregistered vehicle, and driving an uninsured vehicle.
He is due to appear in Caboolture Magistrates Court today, 31 July.
