We're seeking your feedback on banning alcohol consumption at all times on Holloway Beach in Brighton.
Council has received a petition seeking a range of measures to stop alcohol and parties at Holloway Beach, which is located between Green Point and the iconic Dendy Beach in Brighton.
Concerns raised include the beach being known as a summer venue for rave parties (by some community members), and the unpermitted events resulting in rubbish left on the beach and in surrounding areas, creating risks for beach users and nearby residents.
The proposal includes amending the Local Law to prohibit alcohol consumption at Holloway Beach, between Were Street and Gould Street, Brighton. Victoria Police have been aware of the issue on Holloway Beach since early Summer 2024, however this location has not historically been a significant area of concern for them.
As part of Council's decision making on the proposal, we're engaging with our community to help us understand how beach visitors feel about permanently banning alcohol consumption and possession in unsealed containers at this location at all times.
