Pyatt Heads to Palo Alto for U.S-Japan Energy Security Talks

Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Resources Geoffrey R. Pyatt will travel to Palo Alto, California from October 16-18 for the U.S.-Japan Energy Security Dialogue, hosted by Stanford University's Hoover Institution. He will meet with Japanese counterparts to reinforce our countries' close bilateral energy cooperation, and discuss how our two countries can best harness our academic research and private and public sector resources to accelerate the clean energy transition. The two countries will also discuss G7+ coordination to provide continued support for Ukraine's energy systems and to counter Russia's deliberate targeting of civilian energy infrastructure, identify ways to boost energy security across the Indo-Pacific through shared energy trade and investment, and to develop secure critical minerals supply chains. Assistant Secretary Pyatt will also deliver remarks at Stanford University's Energy Seminar on October 16, highlighting the importance of university research to the energy transition, visit Stanford's Precourt Institute for Energy, and engage with a host of top energy industry representatives.
