  • The Crisafulli Government is delivering safer journeys for Queensland kids through an expanded School Crossing Supervisor Scheme.
  • There will be 37 new supervisors starting at 33 schools in 2025-26, reversing Labor's planned cuts to the program.

The Crisafulli Government is delivering a plan for Queensland's future and increasing safety for Queensland kids getting to school and home by delivering 37 new school crossing supervisors across the State.

The investment delivered by the Crisafulli Government reverses Labor's planned cuts and will see the School Crossing Supervisor Scheme grow to more than 1,400 crossings at more than 700 schools, staffed by more than 2,100 supervisors.

An additional 33 schools across the state are set to benefit from new or upgraded crossings, with the expansion focused on locations with the highest safety risks.

The former State Labor Government failed to fund program expansion beyond June 2025, opting to waste taxpayers' money on budget blackholes, rather than investing in more school crossing supervisors.

Minister for Transport and Main Roads Brent Mickelberg said school crossing supervisors provided an important service for our communities.

"The Crisafulli Government went to the election, promising we would deliver safety where you live, and this investment in getting more Queensland kids to and from school through this scheme is another example of how we are delivering on that promise," Minister Mickelberg said.

"The former State Labor Government cut funding for new crossing supervisors, leaving Queensland kids to cross increasingly busy roads. We are reversing those cuts, helping make sure kids can keep safe on the way to and from school.

"We've worked closely with schools, local councils, and the Department of Education to ensure these crossings are delivered where they're needed most."

Member for Caloundra, Kendall Morton welcomed funding for four local schools and said school crossing supervisors play an essential role in keeping our communities safe.

"New crossing supervisors for Caloundra State School, Golden Beach State School, Our Lady of the Rosary, and Unity College is a great outcome for local families," said Ms Morton.

"This funding shows the Crisafulli Government is serious about protecting families and improving safety.

"Our priority is giving every child the safest possible trip to school and providing parents with the confidence that their kids are in good hands."

Since July 2025, two new crossings have opened and 20 existing crossings have been upgraded to dual crossings, delivering safer journeys for students. More sites are under construction and will open from Term 2.
