- $300 million export pipeline created by Siemens Yatala facility expansion, showing business confidence has been restored under the Crisafulli Government.
- The announcement comes after meeting between Siemens and Crisafulli Government, where Queensland's advanced manufacturing capability and export opportunities were discussed.
- Queensland is open for business and the Crisafulli Government is creating the conditions for confidence, investment and job growth after a decade of decline under Labor.
The Crisafulli Government is delivering a booming pipeline of exports by locking-in a major expansion of Siemens' advanced manufacturing facility at Yatala.
The expansion will almost quadruple the facility's footprint from 1,400 square metres to 5,500 square metres, double the local workforce over the next decade and drive more than $300 million in additional exports.
It follows discussions between Siemens and the Crisafulli Government which focused on Queensland's advanced manufacturing capability, export opportunities and the role local innovation can play in global markets after investor confidence deteriorated under the former Labor Government.
Siemens' growth plans are a clear sign business confidence is returning to Queensland under the Crisafulli Government after a decade of decline under Labor.
The Yatala facility manufactures the Fusesaver™, a Queensland invention now exported to 35 countries and helping improve energy reliability around the world.
Minister for Finance, Trade, Employment and Training Ros Bates said the expansion showed Queensland was a place where world-class ideas could be developed, manufactured and exported.
"Confidence matters. When businesses know Queensland is open for business, they invest, they hire and they export," Minister Bates said.
"This is exactly the environment the Crisafulli Government is creating, where confidence can build, investment can land and Queensland-made ideas can compete globally.
"This is the Queensland of Opportunity in action.
"After a decade of decline under Labor, the Crisafulli LNP Government is restoring confidence, backing industry and delivering a stronger economy."
Siemens Australia & New Zealand CEO Peter Halliday said the Yatala facility expansion reflects the company's long-term commitment to innovation and sustainability.
"It's another chapter in our story and Australia's story to create a positive impact on the world – right here from Queensland", said Halliday.
"The Fusesaver story reflects the attitude we all love about our culture. Our people are smart and resourceful and through technology and innovation we can have a big impact on the world."
