The Queensland Police Service (QPS) is proud to announce the return of the annual Dog Squad Calendar, celebrating the vital role of Police Dogs (PDs) in frontline operations and community safety.
Featuring highly skilled PDs and their handlers from across the state, the calendar highlights the operational capabilities and dedication of QPS Dog Squad, which has been serving the state since 1972.
Senior Sergeant Stu Ellison, Officer in Charge State Dog Squad Training and Development, said the calendar goes beyond showcasing the dogs' personalities and offers a glimpse into the critical work they perform every day.
"Our police dogs are an integral part of frontline policing and are capable of tasks that surpass human ability, such as tracking offenders, locating evidence, and detecting blood or explosives," Senior Sergeant Ellison said.
"Across Queensland, we have more than 100 police dogs working alongside their handlers in 15 locations, forming a formidable team of general purpose dogs, specialist detection dogs, and tactical working dogs."
The QPS Dog Squad is built on rigorous training programs and a dedicated breeding program that produces highly skilled and driven canine partners.
The calendar celebrates the achievements of these exceptional dogs and their handlers, who work tirelessly to protect and serve communities statewide.
All proceeds of the 2027 Dog Squad calendar will be donated to Queensland Police Legacy, SalTy Souls Legacy, and Juiced TV, three not-for-profit organisations dedicated to supporting officers, families and children across Queensland.
Police Legacy provides financial support for the families of deceased or terminally ill officers to ensure their loved ones are cared for during times of grief and distress.
SalTy Souls is a Sunshine Coast not-for-profit which seeks to re-engage youth with their natural environment and community by learning to surf.
Juiced TV is a hospital television program created by kids, for kids and is dedicated to transforming the hospital experience of children undergoing treatment for serious illness.
Senior Sergeant Craig Coutts, Officer in Charge Brisbane Dog Squad, encouraged Queenslanders to purchase the calendar to support the Dog Squad's vital work and the causes it benefits.
"Our dogs are trained to operate in high-pressure environments and are an invaluable asset to our service," Senior Sergeant Coutts said.
"The calendar is not only a celebration of their capabilities but a chance to give back to the community in a unique way.
"We encourage everyone to purchase a calendar and show their support."
The 2027 Dog Squad Calendar will be available in person at the Brisbane Royal Show (Ekka) and available online from Monday 17 August while stocks last.
