- The Crisafulli Government is delivering its 50th new Kickstarter early intervention program to stop crime before it starts and make Queensland safer.
- The new program is being delivered by Top Blokes and supports at-risk boys with mentoring to turn them away from crime and towards a positive future.
- The Crisafulli Government's stronger laws, more police, early intervention and rehabilitation is starting to turn the tide on Labor's Youth Crime Crisis, delivering a 7.2 per cent drop in the number of victims of crime in 2025.
The Crisafulli Government is breaking the cycle of crime and restoring safety where you live with the delivery of 50 new Kickstarter early intervention programs across the State.
It's just one of the ways the Crisafulli Government is making Queensland safer after crime skyrocketed during Labor's decade of decline.
The Top Blokes Mentoring Program is the 50th new Kickstarter early intervention program to be rolled out under the Crisafulli Government and will work with schools in Brisbane and the Gold Coast to support at-risk boys (aged 10-17) to reconnect with education, training or a job.
The program focuses on building healthy relationships, reducing anti-social behaviour, leadership and teamwork while teaching boys to make positive decisions about risk taking, peer pressure, and illegal substances.
The Crisafulli Government promised to invest in early intervention, with 50 new Kickstarter programs already delivered across Queensland, after a decade of underinvestment by the former Labor Government.
Labor's weak laws, fewer police and failure to invest in effective early intervention created a generation of serious repeat youth offenders and a youth crime crisis that saw victim numbers rise 193%.
The Crisafulli Government is restoring safety where you live with stronger laws, more police, and the biggest investment in rehabilitation and early intervention in Queensland history.
Minister for Youth Justice and Victim Support Laura Gerber said the Crisafulli Government was investing in early intervention to fight Labor's Youth Crime Crisis and reduce the number of victims of crime.
"The Crisafulli Government promised Queenslanders we would deliver early intervention programs to restore safety where you live after a decade of underinvestment by the former Labor government, and that's exactly what we're doing," Minister Gerber said.
"Kickstarter is all about addressing the early signs of disengagement, anti-social or criminal behaviour to break the cycle of crime and prevent the next generation from becoming serious repeat youth offenders.
"We've delivered 50 new Kickstarter early intervention programs right across the state to fight Labor's Youth Crime Crisis, and we've got more to come."
