Quercus Park Upgrades Ensure Future of Tasmanian Events

Delivering on an important election commitment, the site of two of Tasmania's most popular events has now received critical fire system upgrades to ensure events can continue to run safely.

The works, which included the installation of new head hydrants, a tank and a fire pump at Carrick's Quercus Park are now complete, following a $500,000 investment from the Tasmanian Government.

Premier Jeremy Rockliff said our Liberal Government is delivering for Tasmanians, future-proofing Quercus Park as the destination for major events in the North.

"Rising global uncertainty makes cautious budgeting essential," the Premier said.

"We cannot pretend Tasmania is insulated from what's happening globally.

"But as we navigate these uncertain times, ensuring the future of economic-boosting events, such as Agfest and Party in the Paddock, is paramount.

"When we keep people coming to our great state, spending their money and boosting our economy, Tasmanians win.

"Agfest and Party in the Paddock are huge contributors to our state's visitor economy, so it's crucial that they can continue run on a site that is fit-for-purpose.

"I commend Rural Youth Tasmania on their work to complete the fire safety upgrades, and all the work they do behind these scenes to host major events in northern Tasmania."
