Quick Arrest Of Gunman After Pascoe Vale South Crash

Police have arrested a 29-year-old man armed with a gun who fled the scene of a crash involving a stolen car in Pascoe Vale South this morning.

Emergency services received reports that a Volvo SUV had crashed into a fence on Coonans Road shortly after 9am.

Witnesses then reported seeing the driver flee the vehicle, allegedly armed with a firearm.

Officers rapidly descended on the scene, locating and arresting the man on Parkstone Avenue within 10 minutes.

A firearm was also located nearby after a search of the area was conducted.

Police will allege the Volvo was stolen from a North Melbourne address on 16 July and also displayed stolen registration plates.

The Pascoe Vale South man will now be interviewed in relation to the incident.
