RACV Presents Deeper Connection Art Exhibition

RACV

RACV Goldfields Resort is opening a new art exhibition, A Deeper Connection, by Dja Dja Wurrung artist Tashara Roberts at the resort's ArtHouse from Monday 6 March to Sunday 21 May 2023.

Tashara has worked on Country to produce the new installation, using natural materials collected from across the resort.

RACV Goldfields Resort Manager, Bowen Kress, said the exhibition is a great opportunity for guests to experience RACV's visual arts offerings while taking in the natural beauty at the resort.

"RACV is proud to support artists, local communities and guests to have exceptional art experiences," Mr Kress said.

Tashara said initiatives like this are important to regional Victoria as they give the local community access to all different kinds of art.

"I feel very fortunate that RACV Goldfields invited me to make work on my ancestral homelands, enabling me to spend valuable time reflecting on the reciprocal relationships we each have with Country and with each other," Ms Roberts said.

"This has inspired me to create space for discussions around all humans building deeper, more meaningful connections with Country and each other; and using these connections to combat both the societal and environmental challenges that we will face in the future."

In addition to A Deeper Connection, registrations are open for a free botanical dyeing community workshop to be held on Tuesday 28 March. Workshop participants will choose their natural materials to create a personal silk scarf, enjoy a walk to the edge of the resort fairway to hear about the use of gum, black wattle and cherry ballart during a Dja Dja Wurrung Smoking Ceremony and hear from Tashara on her philosophy to place and Country before returning to the ArtHouse to unbundle their silk and share their unique scarfs.
