Rain, Storms Hit SE Aus, Elsewhere Stays Dry

BOM
G'day from the Bureau with your National Weather Forecast around the country for Wednesday, the 10th of September. All eyes will be on the low-pressure system moving through New South Wales, bringing widespread rain and thunderstorms, with possible heavy falls and severe storms. That rain and storm activity also spreads to parts of South Australia, inland Queensland, and may even scrape the northern parts of Victoria.

Behind that low-pressure system, cool and showery conditions will affect southern parts of South Australia. Showers are also expected for western and southern Tasmania, while elsewhere a large high-pressure system will bring cool and dry conditions to much of western and central Australia. We could even see a few showers and thunderstorms through the Kimberley and the Top End, as some moisture lingers there.

In Queensland, we'll be watching shower and thunderstorm activity in the west, then through the southern interior during the day and into the afternoon. These may reach south-eastern parts of the state in the evening. Ahead of this system, very warm and sunny conditions are expected across much of eastern Queensland, with temperatures in the high 20s to low 30s. Behind the system, it'll be much cooler, only into the low 20s around Birdsville. Brisbane will have a sunny day with 29 degrees, but cloud will build in the afternoon and there could be a late shower or an inland thunderstorm.

Moving down into New South Wales, the focus is on the low-pressure system bringing widespread rain and thunderstorms to much of the state, with heavy falls possible-especially along the ranges and in southern and central areas.
