Darwin City Council
Contractors are currently on-site making temporary repairs to allow the re-opening of the footbridge at the rear of the Jingili Water Garden. The bridge is expected to re-open within three weeks. City of Darwin appreciates the bridge is well-used and a popular thoroughfare for locals. But an engineering report found that after years of exposure to a marine environment and being submerged in floodwaters, it had become structurally unsound. While the temporary repairs will allow the bridge to re-open soon, City of Darwin is also developing plans for a permanent replacement.
