The new ELT structure, which takes effect from Monday, 12 May 2025, is made up of four roles:
- Assistant Governor Financial Stability
- Assistant Governor Money Group
- Assistant Governor Enterprise Services
- Assistant Governor Operations
Governor Christian Hawkesby says the new structure is designed to make RBNZ more efficient, more focussed, and more agile.
"We have been in a 'building' phase over the last few years - and we have achieved a good level of maturity, and now we are using our strong base to embed, innovate and evolve to achieve our strategic outcomes. We are setting ourselves up to succeed sustainably and continue to meet the expectations of New Zealanders," says Mr Hawkesby.
Karen Silk will continue to hold the position of Assistant Governor Money Group, while Angus McGregor will continue as acting Assistant Governor Financial Stability during Christian Hawkesby's six-month term as Governor.
John McDermott, who is currently the Assistant Governor/General Manager People and Technology, has been appointed to the new role of Assistant Governor Operations.
Following the conclusion of a recent consultation process with the Executive Leadership Team, both AG/GM Finance and Commercial Operations Greg Smith, and Strategic Adviser Nigel Prince, have advised they will be leaving RBNZ in the near future.
The RBNZ is currently consulting around a proposed new structure for its Leadership Team (Directors) and expects to consult with staff about potential organisation changes more broadly in June.
