More than 50,000 people attended Penrith City Council's REAL Festival 2026 over 3 days, transforming Tench Reserve into a vibrant festival destination and reinforcing the event's status as one of Western Sydney's premier community celebrations.
The banks of the Nepean River came alive with 'flight' themed immersive art, live entertainment and creative experiences, alongside markets, food and on-water activities.
Perfect spring weather throughout the weekend helped create a vibrant festival atmosphere, with residents and visitors embracing one of Western Sydney's most anticipated events.
Penrith Mayor Todd Carney said REAL Festival once again showcased the best of Penrith.
"REAL Festival is all about bringing people together to explore, create and connect - it was wonderful to see so many people enjoying the festival across the weekend," Cr Carney said.
"From immersive art and live performances to family activities and river experiences, there was something for everyone to discover."
Crowds gathered on Friday and Saturday evenings for the spectacular Busways Riverside Laser Show, which illuminated the night sky and provided a stunning backdrop to the festival.
Sunday's popular on-water program proved a major highlight, with festival goers enjoying kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, Chiliboats water bikes and dragon boat experiences on the Nepean River.
The iconic Nepean Belle Paddlewheeler was one of the weekend's biggest drawcards, offering free rides every 20 minutes throughout Sunday and attracting thousands of visitors.
REAL Festival 2026 was proudly delivered by Penrith City Council, with support from artists, performers, volunteers, community organisations, vendors and sponsors.
