Record Youth Turnout in Young Territory Author Awards

Darwin City Council

City of Darwin is excited to announce that the Young Territory Author Awards received 211 entries in 2025.

This represents a 33% increase from last year's 159 submissions and is a remarkable way to celebrate 35 years of championing the creativity and imagination of young writers across the Northern Territory. Our youngest author this year was just four years old!

Over the coming months, our panel of judges will be reading and reviewing all submissions. Winners will be announced at the Awards Ceremony in November.

City of Darwin extends a huge thanks to all the young authors who contributed their creativity and passion this year, as well as the families, teachers and schools who continue to support and encourage emerging writers.

Our Libraries team is hard at work adding the 2025 entries into the collection at Casuarina Library. The complete 2024 Young Territory Author Collection is already available digitally for loan.
