Red Cross changes service delivery due to WA lockdown

Australian Red Cross

Australian Red Cross is making changes to ensure it can continue to deliver programs and support, in a Covid-safe manner, during the current lockdown in Perth, the Peel Region and South West WA.

As of 6pm AWST this evening, the following changes have taken effect:

Soup patrol, for people experiencing homelessness in Perth and Fremantle is continuing to operate as of tomorrow (Monday 1 February) in a Covid-safe manner

Emergency payments and care packages are continuing to be delivered to people who are Temporary Visa holders and whom have no access to other supports

The Australian Red Cross TeleCross program will continue to contact those whom are the most vulnerable in our community with daily checks amid the lockdown. (Telecross is a daily wellbeing check, via phone, with people who live alone and who are at risk of an accident or illness that may go unnoticed)

Australian Red Cross has adjusted its emergency response protocols to ensure it can respond, if necessary, in a Covid-safe manner

All other programs and support are continuing remotely

Australian Red Cross WA Director, Craig Stewart said the lockdown will be highly challenging for people in the community.

"People who are vulnerable might find this situation affects them even more than others," he said.

"I urge everyone in the community to think of others, and look out for each other," he said.

"I also want to reassure people we work with, and the broader community, that our services continue to operate. People need support, and we are making the necessary changes to continue to deliver it," he said.
