- First tranche of Round 8 Regional Economic Development (RED) Grants recipients announced in the Kimberley
- RED grants have supported hundreds of projects across regional WA
- Part of Cook Government's commitment to growing business and job opportunities in regional WA
Six Kimberley projects have received $558,000 in funding through Round 8 of the Regional Economic Development (RED) Grants Program, supporting business resilience and creating new economic opportunities across the region.
The program backs initiatives that create jobs, boost productivity, build capability, diversify industry, and attract new investment - delivering longterm economic and community benefits across the region.
Included in the most recent round of grants is Kimberley Manufacturing Pty Ltd, an Aboriginalowned Broome business, which received a $50,000 RED grant to develop a modular product catalogue.
The funding will support the development of a modular product catalogue, allowing customers to modify, visualise and price modular constructions before purchase, and thereby aiding the growing housing construction industry in the region.
The Kimberley Medical Group, a Broome-based private medical practice, has been awarded $163,000 to establish the Rubibi Health Centre in Broome, expanding local health services, creating skilled jobs, and reducing the need for costly patient travel out of the region.
Seed Producers Australia Pty Ltd has been awarded $183,000 to establish a modern seed processing facility in Kununurra, supporting agricultural growth, local jobs, improved biosecurity and longterm competitiveness across the Kimberley and Northern Australia.
Mulan Aboriginal Corporation has been awarded $66,000 to develop a business plan for staged cultural centre and tourism developments at Mulan and Paruku, creating new communityled economic opportunities aligned with the Tanami Highway upgrade.
The Cook Government has invested more than $60 million over 11 years into RED Grants to stimulate economic growth and development across regional Western Australia.
As stated by Regional Development and Kimberley Minister Stephen Dawson:
"The Cook Government's RED Grants Program is focused on supporting local ideas that create jobs, strengthen businesses and support the diversification of regional economies.
"These six projects highlight the innovation and ambition across the Kimberley, spanning Aboriginalled enterprises, health services, agriculture, manufacturing and skills development.
"With more than $5 million already invested in 51 projects in the Kimberley, the RED Grants Program continues to play a vital role in building longterm economic resilience and sustainable regional growth."
As stated by Kimberley MLA Divina D'Anna:
"These grants highlight the strength, diversity and innovation of projects being driven by Kimberley communities and businesses to create genuine local opportunities.
"It's encouraging to see investment flowing into health, housing, agriculture, the arts and skills development, delivering practical outcomes that support jobs, economic resilience and community wellbeing across the region.
"I congratulate all the successful recipients and look forward to seeing these projects deliver lasting benefits for communities right across the Kimberley."
