The South Hurstville Library is back with a fresh new look! Rediscover everything you love about the library on Saturday 13 June 2026 and join in on a morning of free activities for the whole community.
The inside has been refreshed with new furniture and shelving to provide more seating, table spaces and places to study or gather with friends. We have made the children's area more fun and inviting with soft furniture for little ones and young families, there is even a cosy reading nook nestled in the shelving.
Visitors can find our 24/7 'Library Express' book locker which provides a convenient option for library members to collect reserved items at any time of day. There are also new signs as well as footpath artwork featuring Georgie the Dragon in nearby streets to make the library easier to find.
From 10.00am until 1.00pm, visitors can check the new features, play boardgames, participate in craft activities and enjoy a special story time session for young families.
Georges River Council Mayor Elise Borg said, "We're excited to welcome visitors back to South Hurstville Library and showcase these fantastic new additions".
"The updated spaces and 'Library Express' book locker make it easier than ever for people to enjoy the library.
"I can't wait for the community to come in and explore the new space."
Whether you're a regular visitor or haven't been in for a while, this is a great opportunity to see the space, meet library staff, and discover everything South Hurstville Library has to offer.
