Reflect. Respect. Celebrate. Australia Day In City

Perth's riverfront will come alive this Australia Day, with a full day of family-friendly entertainment and a spectacular firework and drone display, thanks to Principal Partner Hancock Prospecting.

City of Perth Lord Mayor Bruce Reynolds said the Hancock Prospecting Australia Day activities provided an opportunity for the community to come together to reflect, respect and celebrate Australia's rich and diverse culture.

"Australia Day is a chance to gather in the heart of our city, enjoy a beautiful summer's day by the river, and reflect on the many stories, cultures and shared values that shape our country," the Lord Mayor said.

As part of the day's proceedings, the City of Perth will welcome new Australian citizens from across the globe at the Australia Day Citizenship and Awards Ceremony. The ceremony will also recognise outstanding local heroes through the Auspire Community Citizen of the Year Awards. The City of Perth is proud to introduce a new addition to the program this year, the City of Light Champion Award.

"We encourage everyone to make their way into the City to enjoy a vibrant mix of cultural experiences, live performances, entertainment, rides and international cuisine," the Lord Mayor said.

"Bring your friends and family, set up for the day along the Derbarl Yerrigan (Swan River), and come together to watch the sky light up as we celebrate the city and lifestyle we know and love."

The Multicultural Zone will showcase Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and multicultural communities through live performances, market stalls and hands-on arts and crafts workshops.

Families can also relax in the Hancock Prospecting Picnic Zone, featuring ample seating and shaded areas - perfect to unwind and enjoy a meal. Visitors are welcome to bring their own picnic or sample the wide range of cuisines available from food vendors representing flavours from around the world.

Perth's biggest and best drone and fireworks display will begin at 8.30pm, with the sky above the Derbarl Yerrigan bursting into colour during a 30-minute show of sparkling fireworks and dazzling drones telling a quintessential Australiana story.

The Hancock Prospecting Australia Day is best enjoyed from Langley Park for the best vantage point. Families are encouraged to arrive early to soak up the festivities and make the most of everything the City of Light has to offer.

"There's no better way to celebrate the Australian spirit than sharing the atmosphere along our iconic riverfront," the Lord Mayor said.

Everyone is encouraged to take note of road closures and plan their journey to and from the event. For those driving into the city, a road closure map and list of carparks are available on the Visit Perth website.
