  • McGowan Government Community Cabinet to be held in Kalgoorlie-Boulder
  • Forums, events and meetings to be held across the Goldfields region
  • Kalgoorlie-Boulder Community Cabinet to be held on September 8-9
  • Community safety, innovation and economic development, regional industries and community health will be topics at the heart of discussion at the McGowan Labor Government's Kalgoorlie-Boulder Community Cabinet next week.

Premier Mark McGowan and Cabinet Ministers will visit the Goldfields for a two-day intensive Community Cabinet series that includes a Town Hall meeting where hundreds of community members and local businesses are expected to discuss local issues and open up community dialogue.

The Town Hall meetings are a centrepiece to the McGowan Government's Community Cabinets which are held throughout the year and are hosted across Western Australia. At the 'Town Halls', community members have the opportunity to pose questions directly to the Premier and Cabinet Ministers.

The Kalgoorlie-Boulder Community Cabinet will comprise of a formal Cabinet meeting both formal and informal community consultations on matters relevant to the area or the wider State and discussions - facilitated by local Member of Parliament, Mining and Pastoral MLC Kyle McGinn.

As stated by Premier Mark McGowan:

"Community Cabinets provide Ministers and I more of an opportunity to meet with local community members and organisations to hear firsthand about the issues that matter to them most.

"While we're often in regional WA with our ear to the ground - it's formal initiatives like this that enable Ministers and I to see and hear from people directly and helps us promote key regional areas like the Goldfields to the rest of the State.

"We've been delivering on our Plan for the Goldfields to create local jobs and diversify the economy as we continue to deliver on key projects in community safety, education, health and road and local infrastructure."

As stated by Mining and Pastoral MLC Kyle McGinn:

"I am thrilled that after months of preparation, this weekend we will see the Cabinet arrive in Kalgoorlie-Boulder.

"Since coming to Government in 2017, the Premier and Ministers have been coming through at a steady pace to the Goldfields delivering on our election commitments and listening to people on the ground to hear about issues firsthand.

"In fact we have had several Ministers and the Premier make multiple trips to Kalgoorlie-Boulder and I have been extremely pleased with the representation we are getting here.

"I believe these Community Cabinets show how committed the McGowan Labor Government is not just to WA generally but in this instance, specifically to regional WA and the Goldfields area.

"I appreciate the Premier making the decision to host a Community Cabinet here, and we must continue to talk up this great region of the Goldfields.

"I look forward to seeing many positive outcomes over the coming week."
