Religious Charity Welcomes Interim Manager

Dudley Central Mosque and Muslim Community Centre has been the subject of a statutory inquiry by the regulator since July 2022 following extensive previous engagement.

The Commission opened the inquiry due to governance issues resulting from an unresolved dispute between two groups representing the charity.

As part of its inquiry, the Commission appointed Virginia Henley of HCR Hewitsons as interim manager of the charity on 18 July 2022. The interim manager's role will be to review and revise the charity's governing document, and ensure an election takes place to appoint new trustees who will then be responsible for taking the charity forward.

Dudley Central Mosque and Muslim Community Centre was set up to advance the religion of Islam and provide religious, education and recreation facilities for the local Muslim community.

The Commission's inquiry remains ongoing. It is the Commission's policy to publish a report upon concluding an inquiry to detail its findings, conclusions, and any regulatory action taken.
