Goulburn Mulwaree Council

Work to remove and reconstruct the raised crossing (Wombat Crossing) on Fitzroy Street is scheduled to commence on Monday 15 May 2023 and will take approximately four weeks to complete, weather permitting.

Council was informed by Transport for NSW that despite the crossing being installed to Australian Standards, it needs to be reconstructed so it is accessible for Oversize and Over Mass Heavy Vehicle Loading - in particularly Wind Farm Trucks.

Works will be undertaken from 7am to 5 pm daily as well as some night works undertaken from 6pm to 6am so that this project can be completed in a shorter timeframe and reduce lengthy disruptions.

Works will not take place between the hours of 7.30am - 9am, and 2.30pm - 4pm each day to ensure the safety of children during school drop off and pick up times.

Traffic management that includes detours will be in place and will be communicated on Council's Facebook Page closer to the project commencement date.

During works hours, Council asks that vehicles are not parked on Fitzroy Street between Goldsmith Street and Newton Street intersections.

Council appreciates this can be temporarily inconvenient for residents and appreciates your understanding during these works.
