Renewal Works Continue On Churchill Avenue In Ararat

Road renewal works to Churchill Avenue, between Tobin Street and Port Fairy Road in Ararat, have continued this month, with excavation works almost complete.

Earth moving contractors, SHS Civil, together with Council's own road works crew, worked collaboratively last week to remove the existing road seal and base in preparation for renewal works to commence.

Last month, a demolition contractor removed decommissioned services from under the roadway, to enable the safe lowering of gas and water service lines. The removal of inactive services from below the roadway is crucial step in preventing potential future hazards.

Kerb and channel works will commence once service lowering has been completed, along with the reconstruction of sections of footpath and upgrades to the drainage network

Following the completion of these renewal works, the road will be resurfaced, improving the safety and accessibility of the municipality's road network.

This is one of two road renewal projects planned for Ararat, collectively receiving $1.5 million in funding from the Federal Government's Roads to Recovery Program. The second project includes renewal works to Webb Street, between Churchill Avenue and McArthur Street.

Council thanks Churchill Avenue residents and the broader community for their patience and cooperation as we work to deliver a new and improved road.

"We're very pleased with the current progress of the Churchill Avenue renewal works," says Ararat Rural City CEO Dr Tim Harrison.

"The removal of the existing road surface is a significant step towards towards building a more durable and safer road, ultimately contributing to a more efficient road network for our community."
