Repairs on Bulga Road landslips to begin

MidCoast Council

Work to repair the damage done by landslips to Bulga Road between Swans Road and Collings Road will begin Monday 4 July and continue through to October, weather permitting.

During this time, Bulga Road will be closed to traffic Monday to Friday, between 9am and 3.30pm. This will allow work crews to operate safely during the day but also provide access at peak commuter times. Outside of these times, traffic controls will be in place to safely guide motorists through the worksite. Minor delays may be experienced.

Alternative access between Wingham and Elands will be possible via Collings and Comboyne Roads.

The work involves permanent rehabilitation and slope stabilisation, and will involve a similar method to previous landslip repairs on Bulga Road.

"Damage to the road was caused during the March 2021 heavy rainfall event," said Council's Director of Infrastructure and Engineering Services, Robert Scott.

"Out of the ten landslips that occurred, four have already been repaired. The remaining six landslip sites between Swans Road and Collings Road are especially challenging to repair.

"These repairs will restore normal access to the road, so we're delighted to see work begin.

"We appreciate the community's patience while the works take place and have worked with local residents to find ways of minimising the impacts of the road closure."

Work on the road is expected to finish in October.
