Rickshaw adventures with local author

Mount Gambier Library will host a live event with local author Adam Branford on Tuesday 8 March with the launch of 'Cows, Curries and Chaos; An Indian Odyssey on Three Wheels, commencing at 7:00pm at City Hall.

Cows, Curries and Chaos documents Adam's 2015 crossing of India, as he took part in what is known as the 'Rickshaw Run' - a 2,800 kilometre journey on some of the highest and most dangerous roads in the world.

"Entrants are required to cross the entire Indian Subcontinent completely unassisted, with no mechanical support, no maps provided or accommodation, but with one guarantee - that you will break down," Mr Branford said.

From the burning deserts of Western Rajasthan to the frozen Himalayan heights, Adam shares his experiences of bone rattling potholes, gut-wrenching curries, wayward cows, howling sandstorms, filthy motels, Indian trains, multiple mishaps and other terrifying occasions, before emerging somewhat intact, but utterly transformed.

"At the time I vowed never to return, but I did - that's another book!"

The former teacher's book is available to download on Kindle and is currently number one in various categories with five-star reviews.

Adam is a natural storyteller and his book does not disappoint - it is very descriptive and entertaining.
