Rivervale armed robbery arrest, WA

Regional Investigations Unit detectives have charged a man as a result of their investigation into an armed robbery that occurred in Rivervale last night, 5 September 2018.

About 7.25pm, a man drove a Holden Commodore sedan into the drive-thru of a bottle shop attached to a bar located on Great Eastern Highway, WA Police say.

It is alleged the man threatened staff with a machete and drove off after being given a sum of cash.

Around 1.20am this morning (6 September 2018), the vehicle was sighted by police in Heathridge.

It is alleged the driver failed to stop and attempted to evaded police. A short time later the vehicle was stopped by police on Ocean Reef Road in Joondalup and the driver taken into custody.

A 28-year-old man from Clarkson has been charged with:-

•Two counts of Drive Unregistered Vehicle;

•Two counts of No Authority to Drive;

•One count of Armed Robbery;

•One count of Stealing;

•One count of Reckless Driving to Escape Pursuit;

•One count of Possess Prohibited Drug; and

•One count of Fail to Stop.

He is due to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court today, 6 September 2018.
