Road safety: our shared responsibility

We have extended our partnership with Re:act, an innovative road safety organization based in Australia, to launch their first road safety campaign in the U.S.

Re:act provides design students with the opportunity to develop and pitch creative campaigns to real life clients. The campaigns they develop are designed to raise awareness of road and workplace safety issues among their peers, 16-to-25-year olds.

For the US program, students at University of Maryland (UMD) in the Greater Washington Area were given the opportunity to create a campaign to remind drivers, motorcyclists, cyclists, and pedestrians that we all have a shared responsibility to keep each other safe on the road.

The winning U.S. campaign, 'We are all going somewhere', was created by UMD student Madison Beakes and the campaign's road safety messages will be promoted on billboards throughout Maryland to intercept drivers as they travel, keeping road users in region safe.

"Partnering with Re:act helps us deliver on our commitment to road safety and we look forward to supporting future student-led educational campaigns in Maryland to drive change" said Transurban spokesperson Amanda Allen.

"We look forward to continuing to support shared-value initiatives in Maryland that promote safe driving behaviors."
