Road safety win for City of Casey

The City of Casey is among 11 Victorian councils set to receive funding as part of the first stage of the State Government's $210 million Safe Local Roads and Streets Program.

The City of Casey will work with the Department of Transport and Planning and the Transport Accident Commission over four years to develop, design and plan road safety improvements on council-managed roads.

City of Casey Chair of Administrators Noelene Duff PSM welcomed the State Government's announcement and said the City of Casey was excited to be part of the first stage of the program.

"Our city's big population needs big investment, and we know that improvements to our road network and road safety are very important to our community," Ms Duff said.

"We commend the State Government for recognising and supporting the critical role councils play in identifying and delivering road safety improvements, and we thank the government for this investment in Casey to help keep our growing community safe on local roads.

"We look forward to working with the Department of Transport and Planning and the Transport Accident Commission to plan and deliver these improvements over the coming years and to achieve the best outcomes for our community."

Advocating for funding and support for road network improvements in Casey is one of Council's key priorities as part of the Connecting Casey advocacy campaign.

"We welcome any funding for improvements to the road network in Casey and look forward to being able to deliver projects through this program that will help better manage traffic and improve safety on local roads and around schools."
