The campaign includes a 2023 major events calendar that highlights events like Rockynats 03, River Festival, Capricorn Food & Wine Festival, Pop Up Polo, PBR Rockhampton Invitational (dates tbc), Rockhampton Show and CapriCon, putting Rockhampton on the radar as the events epicentre of Central Queensland.

Rockhampton Region Mayor Tony Williams said it's great to see our major events calendar in full swing again, activating our spaces on weekends and bringing art, culture, food, sport, and entertainment to our region.

"Events not only evoke a great sense of pride amongst our local community but also attract visitors to our region from far and wide", Mayor Williams said.

"This jam-packed events calendar highlights the number of fantastic major events our region hosts each year, reinforcing our ongoing commitment to marketing the region as a great place to live, visit and invest.

"Now is the perfect time for locals to invite their friends and relatives to Rockhampton and immerse themselves in entertainment, adrenaline and culture and then take the time to explore our fantastic tourism experiences.

Advance Rockhampton Executive Manager, Greg Bowden said major events are an important pillar in Rockhampton's visitor economy and we are fortunate that we have great events spread throughout the whole year to promote the liveability and visitability of our region.

"Rockynats 02 with over 52,000 visitors generated over $6.6 million of overnight visitor expenditure, demonstrating the huge impact our major events have on the local economy, particularly turning around what was once a quiet long weekend in our region", Mr Bowden said.

"We know that major events bring economic benefits to our region, with visitors spending money on accommodation, in our cafes and restaurants, on event tickets, on tourist attractions and of course in our local businesses."

"In some cases, events can be the deciding factor when choosing a destination to travel to so it's important we continue putting Rocky on the radar, a city that is alive with events all year round."
