Rockliff still has questions to answer on TasInsure/TasRacing message scandal
Premier Rockliff has serious questions to answer about whether or not his office had any role in preparing, requesting, reviewing or approving the statutory declaration relating to the TasInsure/TasRacing before it was tabled in Parliament.
Yesterday, new information was released which directly contradicted the version of events the Premier provided in Parliament on Tuesday.
On Tuesday, the Premier told Parliament that "Mr Turner did not tell the adviser the intention was to distribute the words as a general message to industry."
Yesterday, it was revealed that Mr Turner in fact sent an email to the adviser titled "Message to industry", before receiving acknowledgement over the phone that the message was "ok for tonight now".
To make matters worse for the Premier, last night Eric Abetz managed to dig an even deeper hole by trying to claim that the adviser doesn't recall receiving the email from Mr Turner.
The only problem?
That story directly contradicts the statement the Premier made earlier this week, where he acknowledged the email and claimed the adviser believed it was a clarification about whether TasInsure would provide workers compensation.
The Liberals can't even get their cover-up story straight.
It's also becoming harder and harder to believe that Jeremy Rockliff's own office didn't play a role in the stat dec before it was tabled.
Notably, when he was asked about this on Tuesday, the Premier didn't provide an answer.
The head of DPAC told TasRacing in January that she considered the communication to be a breach of caretaker conventions, but the Premier has done nothing since to investigate.
His pattern of sweeping things under the carpet until he is caught out saw him become the first Premier in Tasmanian history to be censured.
Will he tell us today what else he's trying to hide?
