The Rapid Relief Team (RRT) is saying a big 'Thank You!' to nurses this May, serving more than 12,000 meals at appreciation lunches across the country.
To commemorate International Nurses Day, which falls on 12 May, the charitable arm of the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church will be putting on special events for health workers at more than 35 different hospitals.
RRT Global General Manager Anthony Arkcoll said International Nurses Day is about showing gratitude to those who do so much for their community.
"Nurses do such an important job, working around the clock to care for people when they need it most, and we really appreciate it," said Anthony.
"This month RRT is putting that appreciation into action, encouraging nurses to take a well-earned break and enjoy a delicious meal with their colleagues."
Dean Hales from the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church said: "The theme of this year's International Nurses Day, 'Empowered Nurses Save Lives', emphasises how important it is to look after the health workers who do so much to take care of us all."
RRT volunteers will be serving Signature Burgers and bacon and egg rolls, fresh barista-made coffee and other refreshments at International Nurses Day events throughout May.
Established in 2013, the RRT has more than 16,500 volunteers around the world who support community events and assist emergency services in times of disaster and crisis by providing meals and other support.
