Rural and regional hospitals need to be ready

Tasmanian Labor

Tasmania's rural and regional hospitals must be prepared for when the borders open and COVID-19 cases are in our community.

Shadow Health Minister Anita Dow said the government needs to make sure that Tasmanians can access the health care they need, where they need it, particularly post December 15.

"When there are COVID cases in Tasmania our hardworking health workers will be under even more pressure than they already are," Ms Dow said.

"With the North-West Regional Hospital and the Mersey Community Hospital already at breaking point, increased importance will be placed on our 17 rural hospitals and they need to be prepared.
