Rural roads searched as inquiries to locate man missing near NSW/South Australia border continue

NSW Police are renewing an appeal for public assistance to locate a man believed to be missing near the border of NSW and South Australia.

John Standley – aged 75 – left a home in Broken Hill about 1.30pm last Tuesday (9 November 2021) and was last seen driving a white Ford utility south on Wentworth Road, heading towards Wentworth.

Officers attached to Barrier Police District were notified of his disappearance on Thursday (12 November 2021), after he failed to arrive at his home at Royal Park, South Australia, as planned.

Since Thursday, NSW Police Force officers, with assistance from South Australia Police (SAPOL), have conducted extensive searches of all roadways between Broken Hill and South Australia; however, neither John, nor his vehicle, have been located.

Family and police hold serious concerns for his welfare as he lives with dementia.

John is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 180cm tall, of medium build, with grey hair and blue eyes.

John is believed to be travelling in a 1992 white Ford F250 utility with South Australian registration plates – WSR 846.

He was last seen wearing a shirt and blue pants.

Police are urging anyone who sights John to contact Triple Zero (000) immediately.

Anyone with information about John's whereabouts is urged to contact Broken Hill Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence.
