Safe Community Forum calls on residents to help develop Action Plan

The Bendigo Safe Community Forum is calling on members of the community to complete a survey to help inform the development of a two-year Action Plan for its recently adopted Community Safety Framework 2022-2030.

The role of the Bendigo Safe Community Forum is to guide, refer and act on community safety matters outlined in the Framework with membership drawn from local businesses and organisations who play an important role in improving community safety.

The Forum's members are drawn from local government departments responsible for social justice, Victoria Police, health, local government, family violence and sexual assault response, liquor industry and youth sectors.

Chair of the Bendigo Safe Community Forum Margaret Singe said the Framework sets the Forum's focus for the next eight years.

"Priority areas within the Framework include reducing harm related to alcohol and other drug use, improving safety outcomes of young people aged 12-24 years, preventing gender-based violence, supporting community strengthening and capacity building and creating and maintaining safe physical environments," Ms Singe said.

"The goal of the Community Safety Framework is to create a safer Bendigo which we will achieve through collaboration, action and capacity building.

"An Action Plan will detail specific initiatives the Forum will undertake over the next two years.

"The Forum is now asking the community to complete a short survey on the City of Greater Bendigo's Let's Talk website to help inform the development of the Action Plan."

The Safe Community Action Plan survey is available to complete on www.letstalkgreaterbendigo.com.au until Monday October 17, 2022.
