Samantha Power Meets Russian Democracy Activists

USAID

On May 30, Administrator Samantha Power met with pro-democracy, anti-war activists from Russia who work with Russian civil society and support a more open, free, and peaceful Russia. The Free Russia Foundation's Natalia Arno and Natalya Lunde, as well as activist Evgenia Kara-Murza, wife of Russian political prisoner Vladimir Kara-Murza, detailed the challenges facing the many Russians who oppose Putin's war in Ukraine and the Russian government's crackdowns on rights and freedoms. They discussed the important role the broader Russian anti-war movement can play in helping to end Russia's invasion of Ukraine and supporting basic rights for all Russians.
