Schools COVID plan deserves more than hot air

Tasmanian Labor

With school returning today the state government should address a couple of concerning matters. Term One saw significant outbreaks in our schools and significant disruptions to education which will hurt outcomes.

COVID is not going anywhere anytime soon and the Government should undertake longer term planning to improve ventilation in our schools and it should improve government messaging around vaccinations for children.

The current government plan for winter is the status quo which didn't work for many schools in term one. Leaving windows open and turning heaters up is a band-aid solution and isn't a long-term plan.

The current plan will continue to mount pressure on parents looking after their sick children while missing out on work, not to mention school staff who are under immense with staff shortages.

The Rockliff-Ferguson Government needs to be upfront with parents and deliver a plan for our children that considers long term solutions because this simply isn't good enough.
