Search for cyclist and dog walker following Keilor assault

Detectives from the Homicide Squad are hoping to identify two people captured on CCTV following an assault in Keilor last month and the ongoing search for Jonathan Dick, Victoria Police say.

Investigators have been told a 38-year-old man was assaulted with a hammer in a residential driveway on Church Street just before 7am on 23 August.

The victim sustained a minor laceration to the back of his head and was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The offender, who police believe is Jonathan Dick, was last seen fleeing southbound on foot along Green Gully Road, passing over Meehan Court.

A man on a bicycle is seen riding south of this location along Green Gully Road, Keilor shortly after this last sighting.

The cyclist appears to be wearing a red top and blue jeans, along with a white bicycle helmet.

At the time of the assault police have been told that Jonathan Dick was wearing a red hooded jumper and blue jeans.

At this stage it is unclear if the rider is Jonathan Dick and police area appealing for anyone who was riding in the area that morning in similar clothing or anyone who recognises the rider to come forward.

Investigators have also released CCTV and images of the cyclist in the hope that leads to the person being identified.

Detectives also believe Jonathan Dick walked past the same property on the previous morning (22 August) shortly after 6.50am.

He crosses paths with a man dressed in a grey hooded jumper and tracksuit pants who is walking a black dog.

Police are keen to speak to the person walking the dog as they may have information on Jonathan’s movements that morning.

Police from the Homicide Squad and Fugitive Taskforce are continuing to search for Jonathan Dick and are urging members of the public to keep a look out for him.

The 40-year-old is also wanted in relation to the murder of his brother David in Doncaster on 3 February, 2017.

Detectives have re-released a number images of Jonathan Dick in the hope someone can provide information regarding his whereabouts.

These images are believed to be consistent with his current appearance.

He is described as being perceived to be of Caucasian appearance, about 176cm tall with a solid build and mousy brown hair.

Jonathan has two distinctive tattoos and for the first time, investigators are releasing artist generated images of these tattoos.

The first tattoo is a Wolverine v Sabre-tooth tattoo on his right thigh extending to his knee, while the second depicts the character the Incredible Hulk tattoo and is believed to be on his left calf.

At this time Jonathan’s movements over the past 18 months are unknown and police are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen him during that time.

He also potentially may have travelled interstate or to regional areas during that period.

Police are appealing for Jonathan to hand himself in and urge anyone who sights Jonathan not to approach him but to call triple zero (000) immediately.
