Search underway for man missing in Ross River at Thuringowa

Police are coordinating a search for a man in Ross River at Thuringowa after he was reported missing to police around 6pm yesterday (February 24).

A search was commenced last night with patrols conducted of the river banks and in the local area, as well as police contacting family and associates.

Today's air, land and river search involves assets and resources from the Water Police, SES, Townsville rescue helicopter, an SES drone, as well as personnel searching the river banks, on foot and in vehicles.

Preliminary information suggests the teenager and a 22-year-old man entered the Ross River at around 3.30am Thursday morning.

The older man advised family of the incident on Thursday with the teenager reported missing to police yesterday evening.

Enquiries by police indicate that family and friends have not had contact from the teenager since this time.
