Second Childcare Worker Charged in Deniliquin Incident

A childcare worker in the State's south has been charged after allegedly pouring water on a child.

On Thursday 5 December 2024, officers attached to Murray River Police District commenced investigations following reports a five-year-old girl had been assaulted at an early learning centre in Deniliquin.

It will be alleged that in November 2024, a female worker at the centre poured water from a drink bottle onto the child.

Following inquiries, a 47-year-old woman was issued a Court Attendance Notice yesterday (Saturday 6 September 2025), charged with assault school student while attending school.

She is due to appear before Deniliquin Local Court on Wednesday 12 November 2025.

A 27-year-old female worker from the centre was also charged in relation to the same matter last month and remains before the courts.
