Seniors Save 50% on Groceries, Meals With Lite N' Easy

Thousands of Australians aged 65 and over are saving money on food and groceries, whilst also maintaining a healthy lifestyle, by using the Commonwealth's Support at Home (SaH) program to access Lite n' Easy's ready-made meals.

If you are eligible for SaH, you may only pay 30 per cent of the cost for your meals and have them delivered to your home, with up to 70 per cent of the costs covered under the program.

Research shows that the average Australian spends about $111 per week on groceries (one person household).

However, a standard 7-day (21 meals) SaH subsidised Lite n' Easy meal plan costs as little as $54.74, which is a 50 per cent saving and equates to $2.61 per meal*.

Lite n' Easy CEO Nathan Hayman says older Australians can enjoy great value and a better quality of life with our ready-made meals – designed to make healthy eating simple, convenient and enjoyable.

"Many older Australians want to continue to live independently and eat well, but the cost of groceries and the hassle of shopping are often barriers," Mr Hayman said.

"We want to enhance the quality of life for older people, which is why we are proud to offer a range of affordable and nutritional meals to households across the country.

"Our research shows that 89 per cent of SaH customers believe their quality of life has improved since starting Lite n' Easy; and 80 per cent of customers rated their health 7+ (out of 10) since ordering Lite n' Easy, compared to 51 per cent beforehand.

"Up to 50 per cent of older Australians (both in Aged Care and the community) experience malnutrition or unintentional weight loss. Lite n' Easy's meal plans are designed to support better health while easing the pressure on the household budget - making nutritious eating simple, affordable and accessible.

"The new year is an opportune time to assess household budgets and prioritise healthy lifestyle choices."
