Homicide Squad detectives have charged a man following an investigation into a serious incident that occurred in the Perth CBD on Friday, 6 March 2026.
About 11.05pm, it will be alleged the accused assaulted a 62 year old man on Hay Street near Victoria Avenue, causing the victim to fall and strike his head on the pavement, rendering him unconscious. It will be further alleged, the accused stole property from the victim before leaving the area.
The victim sustained critical injuries and was conveyed by St John WA to Royal Perth Hospital for medical treatment, but later died.
Police will further allege the accused was involved in a separate incident about 8.00pm the same evening, during which property was stolen from a 41 year old man.
Police attended the scene and located the accused nearby, where he was arrested and taken into custody. A 37 year old Scarborough man has since been charged with:
• 1 x Murder
• 1 x Aggravated Grievous Bodily Harm
• 1 x Aggravated Robbery
• 1 x Stealing
• 1 x Gains Benefit by Fraud
He has been remanded in custody and is next due to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court on Friday, 27 March 2026.
