Severe Weather update - 7am 27 February 2022

The Gold Coast experienced moderate to heavy rain fall overnight, localised areas of flash flooding and road closures.

The Bureau is predicting heavy intense rainfall and potentially damaging winds throughout the day and we are monitoring the situation very closely.

Gold Coasters are being urged to remain vigilant and keep up to date with the latest information. Visit dashboard.cityofgoldcoast.com.au, tune into local radio and media or visit City of Gold Coast social channels.

Please drive to the conditions and remember if it's flooded forget it.

Beaches closed

All Gold Coast beaches are closed today (Sunday 27 February) due to unstable conditions close to shore, with strong currents and rips making it dangerous for swimmers. Stay away from the edge of the water as a rogue wave can easily sweep you off your feet.

Sandbag stations

City of Gold Coast sandbagging stations are open:

Sunday 27 February - 6am to 6pm

Sandbags are also generally available at local hardware stores. It's important to note that sandbags can help reduce the impacts of flooding if they're placed correctly in appropriate locations around property. They are not waterproof and will not stop the water completely.
