Shaping Medical Research Fund and Endowment Account's Future

Department of Health

The Australian Government asked for input on how to improve alignment and coordination between the MRFF and the MREA. The government provides more than $1.5 billion each year from these funds for health and medical research grants.

The national consultation requested input from stakeholders through public written submissions, webinars, and targeted roundtables. We heard from researchers, industry, health providers and services, consumers, First Nations and other priority populations, as well as states and Commonwealth agencies.

You can watch recordings of the public webinars and view presentation slides:

Stakeholder input to this consultation is important and will be used to develop options for shaping the future of the MRFF and MREA. We will prepare and publish a report that summarises feedback received through the consultation process.
