Shellharbour Celebrates Inclusion

Shellharbour came together on Wednesday, 3 December to celebrate the International Day of People with Disability with an uplifting community event filled with connection, laughter and learning.

Held each year, the United Nations-recognised day promotes awareness, understanding and inclusion of people living with disability. Values that are at the heart of Shellharbour City Council's work.

The activities were held by the water at Shellharbour Marina, Shell Cove, with an All-Inclusive Celebration featuring a petting zoo, face painting, and hands-on activities led by local NDIS providers. Entertainment, food stalls and information booths created a welcoming atmosphere for all.

Shellharbour City Mayor Chris Homer said the events showed what inclusion looks like in action.

"It was wonderful to see so many people come together to celebrate the contributions of people living with a disability and the carers who support them. "These events highlight the importance of inclusion, accessibility and community connection," Mayor Homer said.

Council extends special thanks to Frasers Property's Community Development Team, whose generous support made the bulk of this celebration possible.
