The Family First Federal Executive announced today that Lyle Shelton has been endorsed as the party's lead upper house candidate for the 2027 New South Wales State Election.
Acting early reflects the party's adherence to former Prime Minister John Howard's timeless wisdom: "You can't fatten the pig on market day."
Believing that early preparation is key, Family First is launching its candidate campaign well in advance—starting now. This proactive strategy ensures the party lays strong foundations, builds meaningful community connections and lets our policies and values be heard loud and clear from the outset.
Lyle Shelton brings a courageous commitment to defending family values and ensuring that hard-working Australians can enjoy economic opportunity and social stability. His campaign will focus on three core priorities:
- Making housing affordable again for young families by accelerating land release processes, slashing immigration and cutting unnecessary red tape.
- Alleviating cost‑of‑living pressures by fighting to keep affordable and reliable coal electricity generation operational, securing families' energy needs and guarding against soaring power costs.
- Upholding girls' and women's rights - confronting the silencing effects of radical political correctness gone mad, ensuring women's voices remain respected and protected and that freedom of speech and religion are restored.
Family First exists to build a flourishing society anchored in strong families underpinned by Judeo Christian values that provide freedom of speech and religion, economic prosperity and human dignity for all peoples from conception.
Lyle Shelton is a former managing director of the Australian Christian Lobby, director and spokesperson for the Coalition for Marriage during the 2016 same-sex marriage plebiscite and is currently National Director of the Family First Party.
