Labor is calling for Premier and Treasurer Peter Gutwein to front up to the reality of the growing jobs crisis in Tasmania.
Shadow Jobs Minister Michelle O'Byrne said Peter Gutwein has refused to acknowledge back to back sets of shocking jobs data.
"The latest figures show that every region across the state is going backwards, with literally tens of thousands of people out of work," Ms O'Byrne said.
"Outside Victoria, Tasmania has three of the five worst performing regions in the whole country.
"Jobs in Hobart have declined 4 percent, in Launceston it's 6 percent and the decline is even worst in the North West and South East.
"There are just 1,800 job vacancies for 38,000 jobseekers and Tasmania had the lowest vacancy growth of any state in September.
"Peter Gutwein's continued refusal to acknowledge the state of Tasmania's jobs market shows this government has no plan for jobs.
"With so many Tasmanians out of work, Peter Gutwein must push back on the sacking of more than 400 Centrelink staff.
"This is a disgraceful attack on workers at a time when the nation is in the grip of a deep recession and the need for the social safety net has never been more in focus.
"Labor celebrates every job that has returned since the peak of the pandemic and we celebrate every business that has been able to survive.
"Only Labor has a plan for jobs. Labor's COVID-19 Recovery Package sets out a plan to get Tasmanians back into jobs and help those hardest hit by the pandemic."
