The Corowa Skate Park Mural Project is officially underway, driven by inspiring community collaboration, local artistic talent, and youth engagement.
Following unforeseen circumstances that prevented the original artist from completing the project, Corowa local Lee Wight has stepped forward to take on the creative mantle. Wight will paint vibrant new murals across the skate park's shelter sheds and toilet block, ensuring the vision for a refreshed, youth-centric space comes to life.
From the beginning, local youth and students from Corowa High School have been at the heart of the project's creative direction. Over the past week, young people from Corowa High School, the Federation Youth Council, and regular skate park users were consulted on the draft concepts and expressed overwhelming enthusiasm for the designs. The Federation Primary Prevention Team (FPPT) remains fully committed to preserving these youth-driven ideas in the final artwork.
"Community projects like this thrive on local collaboration. We are immensely grateful to Lee Wight for stepping up, and to the Lions Club of Corowa for their support," said representatives from the Federation Primary Prevention Team. "Most importantly, we're thrilled that Corowa's young people will see their creative ideas brought to life in a space built specifically for them."
With the community feedback period now officially closed, the project is moving directly into its implementation phase.
