Hendra Criminal Investigation Branch have charged a man following investigations into the illegal possession of a firearm at Virginia.
Shortly before 10am on 4 November officers conducted a search warrant at a Raleigh Road address.
When police entered the home, it is alleged the man attempted to flee out through the back of the home with a firearm.
Police presented their firearms and ordered the man to drop the weapon.
The man was subsequently arrested, in addition to a woman at the address who is alleged to have obstructed police.
A search of the premises is alleged to have resulted in the location of a sawn-off shot gun, ammunition, cocaine, MDMA and cannabis.
A 29-year-old Virginia man was charged with nine offences including four counts of possessing dangerous drugs, and one count each of serious assault police officer, unlawful possession of weapons category H weapon, possess shortened firearms, authority required to possess explosives and possess property suspected of having been used in connection with the commission of a drug offence.
He is expected to reappear before Brisbane Magistrates Court on 26 November.
A 68-year-old Virginia woman was charged with one count serious assault police officer.
She is expected to appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court on 12 December.
